Rad Comm RC4138 Rail System installed at the SSI Steel Plant in Redcar

Sahaviriya Steel Industries (SSI) are recommissioning the blast furnace at their Redcar plant. As part of this process, they have built a new scrap bay area that will mainly be fed by scrap coming in by rail.

To protect against radioactive sources entering the steel plant, MMH has supplied a Rad Comm 138 litre enhanced railway radiation detection system with full network capability. The detection system utilises advanced technology and is extremely sensitive to low level radiation emissions from moving rail cargo, regardless of the severe changes in background caused by varying scrap and waste densities.

Dalton Recycling take delivery of a Rad Comm radiation detection system

The Conveyor Belt Radiation detection system provides an extremely high degree of protection for the reliable detection of low-level radioactive material. There are a number of reasons why a conveyor belt radiation detection system is an excellent safe guard for the detection of radioactive material, the face of the detector is in close proximity to the material being monitored, the material density below the detector is relatively low, the measured background radiation levels are low and stable, and there is sufficient time to scan even the smallest piece of radioactive material as it passes by the face of the detector.

MMH Buffalo Baler Delivered to H. Ripley & Co

This leading South East Scrap Processor recently took delivery of our 125 Ton 3 Ram Compression Baler.

Impressed with its productivity and the use of a hopper to feed the machine, Ripley & Co have put one of the machines into their Hailsham Yard.

This baler is now in operation and they are very satisfied that they will be able to increase the number of baled non-ferrous material destined for export markets.

MMH took part in the Recycling & Waste Management Exhibition in Birmingham 14th-16th September.

Our stand promoted our full range of equipment and we were kept so busy with interested visitors that the only photo we had time to take was the one above at the start of the show! This Buffalo 125 Ton Baler has been installed recently at Metal Interests in Leeds. They have been very pleased with the performance of our 3 ram baler that produces a lovely dense 12"x12" bale size.

Another tyre recycler chooses Eldan

Scottish recycler Simon Urquart has recently purchased a Used Eldan Heavy Rasper HR122T.

This machine is powered by a 132 KW electric motor, has a 1.2 m length rotor and is being used to process shredded truck and car tyres to produce a 20mm chip. Eldan Heavy Raspers are used by most tyre recyclers because they are robust, economical to run and can liberate all wire in one pass.

Hawkeswood has Rad Comm System installed

MMH recently supplied Midlands scrap processor Hawkeswood Metal Recycling with a Rad Comm RC4000 weighbridge radiation system.

Hawkeswood, who are operating their new shredder in this yard, are now able to monitor closely incoming feeder scrap for any source of radiation. They will also monitor processed material being exported world wide.

Two years later and Bidwell's director Chris West confirms that the 3-ram baler has been great value for money; working every day in their busy yard, it is enabling Bidwell to process twice as much non-ferrous material as they used to.

MMH Buffalo 125 Ton Baler delivered to Kent

Aylesford Metal Company will use their new 125 ton 3 ram baler to bale both non-ferrous and ferrous material.

AMC had been very impressed with the dense 300 x 300 mm bales it produced on ferrous material and once their machine was commissioned on site, director Christian Elliott got it straight into operation. Supplied with a PLC system, this machine can produce a bale approximately every 70 seconds.
